With Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s sudden passing, control of the Supreme Court—and with it the fate of the Constitution—has become the deciding issue for many voters in the 2020 presidential election. And the stakes could not be higher.
With a simple majority on the Supreme Court, the left will have the power to curtail or even abolish the freedoms that have made our country a beacon to the world. We are one vote away from losing the Republic that the Founders handed down to us. Our most precious constitutional rights hang by a thread.
Senator Ted Cruz has spent his entire career on the front line of the war to protect our constitutional rights. And as a Supreme Court clerk, solicitor general of Texas, and private litigator, he played a key role in some of the most important legal cases of the past two decades.
In One Vote Away, you will discover how often the high court decisions that affect your life have been decided by just one vote. One vote preserves your right to speak freely, to bear arms, and to exercise your faith. One vote will determine whether your children enjoy their full inheritance as American citizens.
God may endow us with “certain unalienable rights,” but whether we enjoy them depends on nine judges—the “priests of the robe” who have the last say in our system of government. Drawing back the curtain of their temple, Senator Cruz reveals the struggles, arguments, and strife that have shaped the fate of those rights. No one who reads One Vote Away can ever again take a single seat on the Supreme Court for granted.
Thank you Senator Cruz For fully explaining it to us.55
A very interesting review of the SCOTUS inside and outside workings. Senator Cruz did a great job of writing so a non-legal mind such as mine, can get a better understanding of the Court. I read this at the same time as the Amy Coney Barrett hearings. It was good to recognize several things brought out in the hearings which were raised in this book. It’s a scary thing to think many of our “rights” are only One Vote Away from being overturned. Thank you.55
“One Vote Away,” by Ted Cruz explains the importance of filling Supreme Court vacancies, and how thin the majorities often are on matters of major importance to most Americans. I enjoyed Mr. Cruz’s first-hand account of the people he worked with through the years and his insider’s perspective on the Court’s decision-making. I particularly liked his election-related legal challenges, as well as the lessons learned on filling vacancies. He deserves props for authoring an easy-to-read, engaging and concise summary of complex subject matter. Well done!55
Really well-written and researched book from Senator Cruz. Helps drive home in a meaningful way how important the judicial branch is in the US government.55
I’m not finished with the book but I am captured by the complexity of these cases put in terms we can understand! I’ve been so encouraged by the Verdict podcast and this book does not disappoint! Thank you Senator Cruz for your time, effort, and for your life of public service.55
Eye-Opening! A must-read before you cast your vote for President!55
A waste of time, space, energy, money, and sanity.15
